This package will provide you with a comprehensive report that will satisfy most employers’ needs.

Answer: We have a comprehensive information security policy, both for our sites and for our data centers. Mintz meets the security standards required by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents ACT (PIPEDA) and our IT processes are compliant with the 52-109 and ICCA 5970 regulations.Furthermore, all Mintz employees undergo extensive background screening and are bound by confidential agreements.Finally, when it comes to sharing the report, you are the one to decide who can receive it.

Answer: We will maintain the information used to produce the report (authorizations, notes etc.) for 2 years and the report itself is maintained for 5 years. They are then deleted and destroyed according to our destruction policies.

Answer:Our e-ID verification will verify the identity of the person requesting the information. Should you fail this, you will be required to provide a government-issued photo ID.

Answer: We have contracts with a variety of Canadian police services that complete our searches through the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) system.

Answer: No - the online ID verification is a "soft" inquiry and does not affect your credit score.

Answer: No - a true vulnerable sector search must be initiated at a local police service. The police will use the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) system as well as their own database to conduct a background search based on your name, gender and date of birth.
If your gender and date of birth match to a pardoned sex offender record, you will be asked to provide fingerprints to confirm your identity.

Answer: Your report will result in a "Clear" or a "Not Clear" response.
If you do not have a criminal record, then a “Clear” will result.
On the other hand, if you do have a criminal record, then a "Not Clear" will result. In order to obtain further details about your criminal records, you have two possible avenues.
You may complete the Self-Declaration process. This process allows you to complete a form and “declare” your criminal history. This will be verified by the police and the results will be “complete” (an accurate account of your criminal history) or “incomplete” (not an accurate account of your criminal history).
The second option (or in the event that the Self-Declaration process cannot be completed) is to go through the fingerprints process. This involves attending a civilian fingerprint agency (like Mintz) and having your fingerprints taken electronically. These are transmitted to the RCMP and the result is a certified criminal history report.

Answer: Obviously there is a slight chance that an individual whose name and date of birth are similar to yours results in a false "Not Clear”. Answer: Depending on the criminal record and the time that has elapsed, you may be able to request a "Record Suspension" (previously called a Pardon) from the Canadian government. Visit Service Canada for further information.

Answer: The report is valid as from the date it is provided. Generally speaking, reports between 6 months and 1 year are considered to be valid.

Answer: You may easily share your report with whoever you wish through the system. We caution you that this is your personal information and you should only share with those you need to and trust.
